Who do we work with? We work with service users, their carers and anybody affected by, or with an interest in, mental health issues. Many of the people we support are suffering from severe and enduring mental health problems. We aim to reduce the number of hospital admissions and to help prevent relapse. We try hard to help people achieve the goals they define as important for their recovery. Since its inception the Federation has been at the leading edge of service user involvement in the shaping of services. The Federation is a strong, innovative organisation with a positive approach to helping people. What services do we offer? Direct Payment: When a person is entitled to social care support from Derbyshire County Council, they could choose to have this as a direct payment. A Direct Payment is money paid to an individual instead of a service. A client can purchase The Federation's services using Direct Payments. Support in the community: We support people living in their own homes in the community. We offer care packages tailored to the client's needs and circumstances. Referrals are taken from Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT), Care Managers, GPs and other agencies. Self referrals are also welcome and private support contracts can be set up, for example, via the Direct Payments Scheme. Supported tenancies: The Federation manages twelve flats in Matlock. Clients are referred to our supported housing from Community Mental Health Services. Self-help groups: At the present time the Federation supports a number of self-help groups which are involved in a variety of activities -from craft to quizzes to film nights. We also run a Healthy Lifestyle group, which involves walking or healthy eating. All our groups create opportunities for socialising. We actively promote the development of self-help groups and we support them financially. Therapeutic Programmes: The Federation also runs various therapeutic programmes throughout the year. For example, we run a six week Anxiety Management course and a six week Depression course, both of which are run two to three times a year and are completely free to attend. We also run CCBT (Computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), which includes Fearfighter and Beating the Blues. Holidays and socials: The Federation organises socials, day trips and a holiday every year for members, service users, their carers and guests. Telephone support*: If something is troubling you and you need to speak to someone, the Federation office can help to signpost you to either a Federation support worker, if one is available, or a helpline organisation who will be able to offer a listening ear. *This service is available for Federation members only |
